We spent the day at Maracas Beach on the northern side of Trinidad. Spending an entire day at the beach is such hard work! All work and no play. On the way there I met a man who was training his pigeons for a race and was timing them. Once we got to the beach it was very fun to play in the waves in water that didn’t feel like ice. It even rained twice while we were there and it was refreshing. I tried a local favorite snack called “bake and shark” (pronounced bacon shark) which was very delicious. I also tried coconut milk straight from the coconut, unfortunately I did not like that one as much. We also had a crazy encounter with some boa constrictors. All over a great day of relaxation and adventure before we dive head first into our research.
